Half of pensioners losing the Winter Fuel Payment can now only afford to heat one room this winter. Cold weather can also make existing health conditions worse. Help us to help local older people combat the cost of cold and make a difference to those most in need.
The fund will enable us to reach those who are most vulnerable this winter by providing practical support such as,(but not restricted to):
- Offering benefits checks to make sure that people are claiming all that they are entitled to, especially in light of the recent decision to withdraw the winter fuel allowance for those not on pension credit, we also provide support for older people to apply for benefits which is vital especially for those who are not digitally minded.
- Providing support from our Warm and Wise service giving energy efficiency advice and practical equipment to help keep utility bills as low as possible.
- By providing practical help by supplying food parcels that will help while additional financial support is being put in place.
- Providing heaters, blankets and hot water bottles.
